Skinner is Gone!: A Look at My Favorite Jeff Skinner Cards Of All Time!

Up until Thursday Afternoon at about 6pm Eastern Time I was preparing to add to my blog-series of my favorite all time cards of Canes Wingers. That is until my phone was set abuzz with the news that the king of one way hockey in Raleigh Mr. Jeff Skinner had been traded to the Buffalo Sabres for prospect Cliff Pu (ha ha I said Pu) and a myriad of draft picks. While I have been more than vocal on my opinion of the trade ( It was a good move one that needed to be made for a myriad( love that word) of reasons). However, that discussion is not the intent of this post. This post is to highlight my favorite Jeff Skinner cards of all time.

1. Young Guns a Blazing
To Hockey Collectors all around the hobby there are few more exciting cards to obtain than a young gun of a player from your favorite team seen as the "Official" Rookie Card of the Upper Deck Young Guns are seen as an official introduction to Hockey Card world.. In 2010-2011 Upper Deck released Jeff Skinner's Young Guns card signaling the young wingers arrival to the NHL and his Calder Trophy winning season.

2 Tim Horton's Brings More Than Just Donuts
To American Hockey Fans the name Tim Horton's may more than likely remind you of the Leaf's Hall of Famer from the 1960's and 1970's. However, to Canadian's all over he is more than just a hockey legend, but the proprietor to great donuts and coffee as well. Each year Upper Deck and Tim Hortons collaborate to release a hockey card set and 2016-2017 was no exception. I love the white Jersey complimenting the reflective background on this card.

3. He Was Never A Great Defender but He Stuck Out On O-PEE-CHEE
If we are being honest Jeff Skinner was never a great defender. While he would occasionally get hot offensively, he was never going to be a Selke Candidate. However he shows he can "stick" to some things with the release of this 2012-2013 O-PEE-CHEE sticker card. I love this card due to the unique fact that it is in fact a sticker, and it shows Jeff Skinner smiling and clearly celebrating a goal displaying the Hurricane logo clearly.

4. Shining Stars

One of the subsets in Upper Deck is their Shining Stars Subset. Upper Deck 2017-2018 Jeff Skinner was given a Shining Star card. I always love the design of these especially the blurred background behind a clear shot of Jeff Skinner.

I have mentioned before on this blog to be a fan sometimes hurts. However, sports are supposed to be fun. Lets all look at the big and more important picture. Yea some of you fans favorite player is no longer on the team. It happens, but this morning you were fortunate enough to wake up happy healthy and one day closer to Hurricanes Hockey Season. Thanks For Reading and Redvolution!
