The Carolina Hurricanes Booster Club: How Caniacs are helping the community

If you have ever attended a Hurricanes game at the PNC you have undoubtedly recognized the table adorned with pins, pom-poms, and manned by loyal Caniacs. That table belongs to the Carolina Hurricanes Booster Club, the official booster club of your Carolina Hurricanes.

Founded in 1997 the booster club is an educational, charitable, and social organization designed to support the sport of ice hockey in North Carolina. Specifically by promoting a local interest in the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Club through their activities and publications.

However, the real passion of the Carolina Hurricanes booster club lies within their charitable efforts within the community. The group has raised a significant amount of money each year for The Kids N Community Foundation, Triangle Special Hockey, and a Youth Hockey Scholarship through our Fan Favorite voting,  sales of pom-poms, beads, and pins at the games, and their annual jersey raffle.

Fan Favorite voting is a popular event amongst Canes Fans where a Caniac can vote on their favorite Canes player for merely a dollar with the dollar going to help provide a local youth with a hockey scholarship. This year's winner was returning Cane and 2006 Stanley Cup clinching goal scorer Justin Williams.

Boasting over 100 members the Booster Club is always inviting more Caniacs to join the in on the fun. A potential booster can join by simply either going to the club website (http://www.hurricanesboosters.org) or stopping by the table at home games, questions can be answered via Facebook (http://facebook.com/hurricanesboosters) or Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/CHBCHurricanes).   Benefits of joining the club are; exclusive events such as our meetings with guest speakers from the Hurricanes organization and meeting fellow fans that also love hockey. The biggest benefit is knowing that you are supporting the hockey community by supporting the Carolina Hurricanes.
