My Favorite Canes Canvas Cards

Upper Deck 2018-2019 has hit the market and while the hunt for the Elias Pettersson Young Guns is at full throttle The flagship release of Upper Deck Hockey ( by Flagship I mean cheapest set married men on a budget can afford) is in stores nationwide One of the unique cards or "hits" (if we are talking hobby language) are the Upper Deck Canvas variants of regular players, Young Guns (rookies) and legends. With an entire subset of Canvas within the set My Carolina Hurricanes have no shortage of players to grace the Canvas. The Following are some of my favorites

1. Eric Staal the Last Canvas of the Last True Center
There is no doubts or Secret in Raleigh that for the past 3 seasons the Canes have struggled desperately up the middle of the ice. Until a Sunday in February 2016 that was not the case. On that day the Canes traded their Captain and number one center Eric Staal to the Rangers and have yet replaced him up the middle of the ice. This Canvas card was from the 2015-2016 Upper Deck Series and the photo was clearly taken on opening night of that year.

2.Jiri Tlusty is Snowing the Camera
One thing I love about the Canvas Cards is that they tend to show a picture from an uncommon view. Jiri Tlusty's 2014-2015 Canvas is a prime example of that. I love how this card clearly shows Tlusty tied up in a chase for the puck. Based on the visible Canes logo on the puck this game clearly took place at the PNC Arena.

3. Sebastian Aho Skates In No Mans Shadow
I LOVE THIS CARD! I have mentioned it before but it is absolutely stunning photography. Sebastian Aho loves this card! He told me himself when he signed it for me. This Canvas was from the 2017-2018 Canvas line and was taken from a unique angle, allowing the young Superstar and his shadow to be the sole focus of this card.

4.Jaccob Slavin Prays For Our Goalies
Jaccob Slavin is a great man, and a Man of God. So much in fact he signs all his cards with the Acronym "AGTG" (All Glory To God). With that being said I can only hope Jaccob is praying for the teams abysmal goaltendng situation in this card. Lord knows they need all the prayers they can get . I love how the goalie mask and third jersey logo are on prominent display on his card making providing another unique view from Upper Deck Canvas.

5. Lucas Wallmark Provides Hope for the Future
One of the big chase pieces in Upper Deck is Young Guns Canvas, They are found in about 1 of every 48 packs so for me to pull one, and it be a Canes one is huge. I chose this card because Wallmark has been playing solid Hockey as of late. His recent play is giving Canes fans hope that the team may have a true center in the fold after years of searching.

The Canvas cards will always be one of my favorite cards to pull out of the basic Upper Deck Set. Sure they are not made out of as much canvas as they used to be, and they are slowly becoming so common that almost every player has one. Yet they will always be one of my favorite pulls and a joy to collect. Thanks for reading and Redvolution.
